About Optica

Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, is the society dedicated to promoting the generation, application, archiving and dissemination of knowledge in the field. Founded in 1916, it is the leading organization for scientists, engineers, business professionals, students and others interested in the science of light. Optica's renowned publications, meetings, online resources and in-person activities fuel discoveries, shape real-life applications and accelerate scientific, technical and educational achievement.

Our Student Chapter

Founded in 2005, revived in 2014, and again revived in 2022, the Caltech Optica (formerly OSA) Student Chapter aims to: (1) promote awareness of optical science and optical engineering among the student and local communities, (2) facilitate communication and interaction between students, faculty, administration and industry professionals, (3) interact with Optica members and its student organizations with a focus on information sharing and networking, and (4) raise awareness of post-graduation opportunities for students.
